This project includes lectures, workshops, hikes, seminars and excursions to forest and mountain localities on the European mainland.

 

  Project subject content: 

                             

 

 Part I:

 1. The 2010 outdoor challenge: Outdoors in a water dependent world.

 2.  Principles and strategic frameworks of Outdoor Education.

 3. Self awareness and personal development: A cardinal goal in Outdoor Education.

 

 Part II:

 4. Outdoor Learning in our contemporary world: Pros and cons.

 5. Workshops for the outdoors: A hands-on introduction.

 6. The European outdoors: A geographical overview.

 7. Fundamental skills and competences for the outdoors.

 

 Part III:

 8. Alpine and temperate forests in Europe: An introductory overview.

 9. Mountain ranges (Carpathians) in Europe: An introductory overview.

 10. Hiking and orienteering in forests and mountains.

 Part IV:

 11. Tatra Mountains: http://www.staff.amu.edu.pl/~zbzw/ph/pnp/tatr.htm

  Bialowieski National Park: http://www.staff.amu.edu.pl/~zbzw/ph/pnp/bial.htm

 Region/Country: Eastern Europe, Poland.

 Environment: Temperate lowland forests and the Carpathian Mountains- (Lakes, rivers, marshes, waterfalls and pristine forests).

 Main activities: Hiking, cross country walking, orienteering, map reading, leadership drills, forestry and mountain field trips.

 Duration: 9-11 days.
